1997 / Weiden / Central Bus Terminal

The urban design concept for the 2Ha public open space opposite Weiden town hall incorporates a new central bus terminal for 14 buses. Set above a submerged public car park, new urban spaces and green zones are created.
At the terminal's head, sits the infrastructure for bus control point, kiosk, waiting rooms, public amenities.
A 65m long steel framed canopy stretches across the waiting areas. Material selection informs the public uses: waiting areas with timber benches, panels of laser-cut timber, reflective alum., glazing and paved areas of stone, concrete planks, mosaics for orientation.
