2007 / Möhrendorf / New Town Hall

A new town hall for Mörendorf consolidates the town's growing civic density and provides forecourts to the street and a town square adjacent to the church and historic school house.
This fine grain urban design approach interweaves existing disparate parts of the town with pedestrian links that connect into the town hall's civic presence and programme - public seminar rooms, conference hall and council services' offices.
Monolothic in presence, openings are plastically carved into the building form for throughway passages and inset balconies. Regional characteristics further inform the new town hall with contemporary interpretations of steep gabled roofs and ashlar masonry.
