2009 / Altstadt Regensburg / Conversion of Saint Klara's Monastery

The secularised baroque monastery of St. Klara in Regensburg sets the scene for new programme.
Converted into a youth hostel, school groups, tourists and scout clubs could be accommodated. On adjoining monastery grounds, a youth music school sets a new focal point. The project site provided fertile ground for the exploration of the site's particularities as well as concept development for the new programme: within Regensburg's urban structure, street networks to the south, the Danube river frontage to the north, interdependant urban programme and the cellular spatial qualities of the monastery itself.
Project assignment was undertaken in Germany 2009 in association with Iacobus-Kooperation, a start workshop in Regensburg and closing project jury in La Coruña.
