2015 / Regensburg / Former Nibelungen Barracks

By far the largest proportion of apartments is proposed as an east-west orientated type, which are well exposed to light. Most of them are organized with the economical type of building access with three apartments per floor-unit. Large apartments are located in preferred positions. In the north they are developed on the boarder to the park, respectively on the upper floors as penthouses. In the south they are developed in the center of the quarter with two-sided orientation to the courtyards. Kitchen, dining and living are orientated to the associated outdoor spaces. External kitchens can be provided as a standard, even in small apartments. The “living through concept” and the possibility of generous connections between living and sleeping areas with the help of sliding doors can grantee good exposure to light and flexible arrangement of spaces, even in small apartments. All the apartments, the underground garage and the outdoor areas are accessible for disabled persons. The spacious garages of the several quarters are created in a way that the required car parking mostly is attached to the individual entrances, which supports the orientation and generates an address for the individual houses.
